FOOTBALL RECRUITING ROUNDUP Per 247Sports, Craig is the nation's No. 34 overall recruit, the No. 2 wide receiver in the country and the No. 2 prospect in Florida in the 2016 class. • The Fighting Irish coaching staff, led by defensive backs coach Kerry Cooks, has recruited the state of Texas very well over the past few years. They are hoping that trend continues in 2016 with Sachse (Texas) High four-star wide receiver Devin Duvernay. Notre Dame extended an offer to the 5-11, 185-pounder April 28, joining Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, UCLA, Florida State and many others. "It's pretty big time," Duvernay said of his offer from the Irish. "Coach Cooks let my coach know I had the offer when he came by the school. We talked a little later that night, and he seems like a pretty good guy. "He was telling me that my explosiveness is unmatched and he said I'm a playmaker. He said that he wants me at Notre Dame. He said it's the place to be and all the Texas guys are looking at Notre Dame for a reason and to check it out myself." Per 247Sports, Duvernay is the No. 39 overall player in the land, the No. 4 wide receiver nationally and the No. 7 recruit in Texas in the 2016 class. • It's not easy to land a top prospect from the state of Louisiana, but Notre Dame is hoping that New Orleans John Curtis four-star offensive tackle Willie Allen gives the Irish strong consideration. The 6-7, 300-pound prospect, who holds offers from Alabama, Florida, LSU, Michigan and many others, added an offer from the Irish April 10. "I called the coaches at Notre Dame and let them know that I was really appreciative of the opportunity that they had given me," Allen said. "It felt really good getting that offer. I'm blessed to have offers from Notre Dame and all the other schools. "I'm hoping to get to South Bend after the season for a visit with [2015 three-star New Orleans defensive end] Bo Wallace. He has an offer, and he likes them a lot. It would be fun to get up there with him." Per 247Sports, Allen is the No. 17 overall recruit nationally, the No. 6 offensive tackle in the land and the No. 2 prospect in Loui- siana in the 2016 class. — Tom Loy Follow @TomLoy247 on Twitter for daily recruiting updates available on BlueandGold.com.
