He chose the Irish over San Diego State, California, Washington State and Texas A&M, his other finalists. He also had offers from Boston College, Connecticut, Florida and USC. "I've always had a great feel for Notre Dame," Pflueger explained. "It's just everything — its overall greatness. When you step on campus, you feel honored. It kind of caught me when I was up there." Brey and Ingelsby, specifically, have developed a strong bond with Pflueger and worked hard during the recruiting process to land his verbal commitment. The Irish coaching staff paid close attention to Pflueger during the summer circuit and was especially impressed by his play at a tournament in Las Vegas. It didn't go unnoticed by Pflueger. "I could tell they were trying to come to almost all of my games, and I realized they were interested," he said. "I started talking to the coaches about their style of play and the conference they're in. It wasn't an easy decision, but it was the right one. "I just really enjoyed those guys They're great coaches, great human beings and just very kind. I could tell they were being honest the whole time. I feel like those relationships are strong."
