MICHIGAN IN THE PROS DAVID MOLK SEIZES AN OPPORTUNITY David Molk wasn't sure if he'd get another chance to play center in the NFL when he sat out last season. He would have been almost certain no team would put him at guard. That's where he found himself, though, when the Philadelphia Ea- gles called his number in the opener with Jacksonville Sept. 7. When right tackle Allen Barbre hobbled off with a sprained ankle, guard Andrew Gardner jumped outside and Molk took Gardner's spot. He played left guard for 58 snaps from late in the second quarter until the end of a 34-17 win for the Eagles. Molk had only played 15 snaps at center in his entire NFL career. "Everything's different," Molk said. "Your leverage is different. Your angles are different. Where you place your hands is different. How you assess pass rush is totally different, where at center it's literally right in your face." Molk was active, but did not play in a 30-27 win at Indianapolis Sept. 15. "I'm going to go home and take a deep breath," Molk said after the Jacksonville win, "and try and figure out what the heck just happened."
