WHERE ARE THEY NOW? McGee never stopped producing. He became involved in so many ventures, his focus didn't narrow enough for a handful of years. "I was doing a radio show," he said. "I was doing some television. I was doing a sports complex with [former Wolverine] Barry Larkin and Dee Brown. I was doing a res- taurant. "I had all these things. When you have all these different opportuni- ties, you really don't focus and con- centrate on any one of them. I found myself in that predicament for five or six years. It took me that long to take a step back and narrow some things down, and really start and develop a business." Now he's hit his stride, with an enterprise drawing recognition in Orlando, the state of Florida, and beyond. He's not settling for any- thing these days, and exhibits very few regrets. Those ties, however … "We wanted to win the Big Ten, which we accomplished, but we didn't win the national champion- ship," he said. "Sometimes I think we undersold ourselves just a bit. That's probably the only thing, if I look back and could change one thing … if we'd have won those three games we tied my senior year." Nobody can go back, but McGee made sure he just kept moving up. ❑ Michigan Accomplishments: Played four seasons at tight end for the Wol- verines, enjoying a career year as a senior in 1992 … Wound up with 42 catches for 515 yards and six touchdowns, with 38 grabs, 467 yards and all six scores in his final campaign … Made six catches for 117 yards and two touchdowns in his last game at Michigan, the Rose Bowl victory over Washington … Played on four consecutive Big Ten championship squads. Michigan Memory: "I would say graduating. I was on the commencement committee in '93, when Hillary Rodham Clinton was there. I got to sit on the stage during graduation, and that was pretty special. "You definitely have all the sports memories, but you go to a place like Michi- gan on a scholarship and my goal was never really to play in the NFL. My goal was to graduate. Doing that really stands out to me." Professional Accomplishments: Performed for 11 seasons in the NFL, all but two with the Cincinnati Bengals … Posted 322 receptions, 4,089 yards and 21 touchdowns during his NFL career … Moved on to a number of business ventures, and is now CEO of HNM Global Logistics, an Orlando-based freight forwarder. Education: Earned a degree in communications from U-M in the spring of 1993. Family: Wife, Jacqueline London, and 15-year-old daughter, Hannah McGee. The Tony McGee File
