guard Spike Albrecht said. "Through all that hard work, he's built respect. The
younger guys all look up to him. If he has something to say, everyone is going to
listen."
Zak Irvin, Soph., SF: The 6-6 wing took his game to another level in Italy after
averaging 6.7 points and shooting 42.5 percent from three-point range as a
freshman.
"He was really, really good out there — put on a show," Albrecht said. "He
worked a lot on his game in the offseason and obviously got stronger with
[strength] Coach [Jon] Sanderson. His ability to put the ball on the floor and get
to the rim, make plays for others, was the big difference."
Kameron Chatman, Fr., PF: The freshman four-star from Portland, Ore., Colum-
bia Christian was everything the coaches expected he'd be.
"With this group, Kam and all of these kids grabbed defensive rebounds and
pushed the ball to the front court. Their rebounding, particularly defensively, was
very, very positive," Meyer said.
Mark Donnal, RS-Fr., C: The 6-10 redshirt freshman will have to battle with 6-9
freshman Ricky Doyle and will share time, but he showed well. The platoon wore
the Italian teams down.
"It was almost like hockey, the way we were bringing guys in," Albrecht said. "By
the second and third quarter, teams were just done. That was exciting to see."
