Additional scholarships are on their way and a bowl game is within sight. At Penn State, it's time to rejoice. Or is it? ames Franklin, for all of his energy and enthusiasm, is a task-oriented individual once football season ar- rives. He spent the &rst months of his tenure at Penn State traversing the East Coast via car, bus or plane spreading the gospel of Nittany Lion football, and his vision for the long-term success of the program was painstakingly detailed in an e'ort to rally support. Since early August, however, that big-dreaming side of Franklin has been locked away. As tempting as the big picture may be to look at, in the midst of a season that has presented enormous challenges, the Nittany Lions' new head coach has hammered home the here and now to his football team. Be- yond winning this week's game, the thinking goes, focus more immediately on executing this play, this rep, this test, or this presen- tation in this moment. Don't look too far ahead.
