An- drews's successful penalty kick staked the Irish to an early lead before she found freshman midfielder Taylor Klawunder for a goal shortly before halftime. She played all 100-plus minutes of the dramatic contest, only leaving the field when North Carolina won in the 101st minute with a golden goal. Jake Kildoo — Cross Country The senior was named the ACC Performer of the Week after finishing first at the National Catholic Championships Sept. 19. Kildoo's first collegiate victory came at a needed time for Notre Dame, competing without two of its top three runners. He finished the five-mile course in 24:57.98, less than two seconds ahead of sophomore teammate Chris Marco. Thanks to that one-two finish, the Irish finished second in the meet behind only Canisius. Molly Seidel — Cross Country For the 12th consecutive year, an Irish woman won the Na- tional Catholic Championships, thanks to Seidel's 17:09.04 clock- ing in the five-kilometer race. The junior, along with classmate Danielle Aragon, paced Notre Dame to a victory at the meet. The Hartland, Wis., native shaved more than 35 second off her time from last year's National Catholic Championships, when she finished seventh. Nicole Smith — Volleyball The fifth-year senior outside hitter led the Irish to two victories at the Purdue Active Ankle Challenge Sept. 19, including in Notre Dame's first five-set match of the season. Smith finished the day with 27 kills, 12 digs and nine blocks in victories over Morehead State and Saint Louis, before adding seven kills, six digs and one block in a loss to No. 11 Purdue Sept. 20.
