When Notre Dame's game plan was focused on stopping the run in the sea- son-opening 48-17 win over Rice, Hill did not play. When a pass-rush spe- cialist was needed in the 31-0 shutout of Michigan, the Schertz, Texas, native showed up in the box score with only two tackles, but he was constantly around the ball and quickly displayed the skill set he has to contribute in such situations. "He's explosive," Kelly said of Hill. "First-step explosiveness. He can come off the edge. He gets there quickly.
