"We were all confident and knew we were going to get the 'W' at the end of the day." Notre Dame senior quarterback Ev- erett Golson… On Kelly's reaction to his intercep- tion returned for a touchdown: "You know what you're going to get with Coach Kelly. That's not to say anything bad about it. I knew what I was going to get. "I understand the severity of it. You can't turn the ball over, especially in that type of situation." On facing Florida State next week: "The game is big, but this week is go- ing to be big in how we prepare and how we take care of business." Notre Dame sophomore safety Max Redfield … On the week leading up to a matchup with defending national champion Florida State: "It's obvi- ously going to be a heightened aware- ness of who we're playing. We need to increase intensity, increase focus, increase execution, communication, all that kind of stuff. "Florida State is a great team, obvi- ously ranked No. 1. We know it's go- ing to be a challenge, and we love it." Notre Dame senior linebacker and captain Joe Schmidt … On enjoying the victory despite giving up 43 points: "You have to en- joy victories. I'm going to enjoy this victory. At the same time, I understand how much better we need to be, how much better I personally need to be. "Personally, I'm really looking for- ward to getting back to work." On the expected atmosphere at Florida State: "I imagine it being a very loud environment. It's a tough place to go win football games. … I'm looking forward to that environment. It's an amazing opportunity to play them." On the emotions heading into a matchup as hyped as next week's: "At the end of the day, this is football. It's a kid's game and I love playing it. … It's going to be an awesome experience, and I'm really looking forward to it. "You have to feed on it but at the same time make sure you don't lose your focus. We've got a lot of veteran guys who have played in a lot of big games." North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora … On his team's reaction to the loss: "I just left a team whose guts are ripped out of them right now. They came here believing they were going to win a football game, and they came up short. "They fought hard to the very, end and I'm proud of the way they fought." North Carolina junior wideout Quinshad Davis … On the Notre Dame Stadium atmo- sphere: "It was exciting. I was pumped up all week to come here — all the history that's been on this field. It was amazing to come out here. It was a good crowd for a football game."
