but they usually remain committed to their original school. It's when a prospect says he has to talk it over with his family that alarm bells go o5. As Wimbush deliberated, four-star de- fensive lineman Adam McLean also had an announcement to make. When the North Potomac, Md., native committed to Penn State, he told reporters that he still might be interested in taking a few o6cial visits. Later, however, he became one of Penn State's most enthusiastic re- cruiters, reaching out to other prospects in the Class of 2015 in hope of getting them on board, too. But on Oct. 6, McLean made it clear that he, too, was having second thoughts, as he announced on Twitter that he plans to take all 4ve of his o6cial visits. He later told Adam Friedman, Rivals.com's Mid- Atlantic recruiting analyst, that his deci- sion to look at other schools was the cul- mination of "a long thought process." "I've asked the Penn State coaches and, of course, they said that they don't want me to do this because they don't want to lose me," he said. "We've talked about this multiple times already. I don't want to go to Penn State and start thinking I should have gone somewhere else or I should have seen someplace else. I visited South Carolina, Nebraska and Wake Forest, but I don't really have too much to compare Penn State to because I haven't been to that many places." McLean had not set any dates as of this writing, but several schools that he appears likely to consider are SEC West rivals Ole Miss and Texas A&M. "I really like those programs and I never got a chance to take a good look at them," he said. "Ole Miss was one of my top three schools, along with Michigan State and Penn State. I never got to go see them and see what it's like down there. "Texas A&M o5ered me a little late. I kind of blew it o5, but it's a long thought process, and my coach, my AD, my mom, my dad and myself think that it's best if we go look and see some other places, places that I've never been before. We think Penn State is a great place, and I'm still committed." The good news for Penn State is that McLean plans to visit University Park twice in that time frame. The 4rst will be an un- o6cial visit for the upcoming Ohio State game on Oct. 25, while the second will be one of his 4ve o6cial visits. That visit will most likely come a few weeks before Christ- mas, when the majority of Penn State's committed Class of 2015 prospects take their o6cial visits to campus. As for the other two schools, the favorites appear to be Michigan State and Tennessee. Just as McLean's news was sinking in, Wimbush announced his decision. On Oct. 7, the top ranked prospect in Penn State's class – he was its only Rivals100 recruit – announced that he would be joining Brian Kelly and Notre Dame. "There's not much of a di5erence be- tween the two schools as far as football and athletics. They are both top-tier uni- versities," Wimbush told Irish Illustrated. "I guess in the end it came down to aca- demics and how I could get set up for later in life. I want to study accounting, and I know Notre Dame has a great busi- ness program. It was as much a life decision CLASS OF 2015 COMMITMENTS* NAME POS HT WT HOME SCHOOL Saquon Barkley RB 5-11 190 Whitehall, Pa. Whitehall Ryan Bates OG 6-5 285 Warminster, Pa.
