  FOOTBALL RECRUITING BY TIM SULLIVAN M ichigan has experienced a some‑ what tumultuous 2014 cam‑ paign, both in terms of record on the field and some level of controversy surrounding the program. This has had an impact on U‑M's recruiting for the class of 2015. Here is a look at the status of the current commitments as well as analysis of why those who have decommitted may have chosen to move away from the Wolverines. THE COMMITS Bloomfield Hills (Mich.) Brother Rice quarterback Alex Malzone is a lifelong Michigan fan, and per‑ haps more importantly, a mid‑year enrollee who has already signed scholarship paperwork to join the Maize and Blue in January. That's not binding on the prospect's end, but it does indicate just how serious the 6‑2, 205‑pounder and's No. 12 pro‑style quarterback nation‑ ally is about becoming a Wolverine, no matter how the season finishes up in Ann Arbor. "I've talked with Coach [Brady] Hoke and Coach [Doug] Nussmeier, and I'm confident that they'll turn it around for the rest of the year," he said. "I'm fully, 100 percent commit‑ ted to Michigan." Malzone has also played a role in keeping the 2015 class together through regular communication via phone and social media. Detroit Cass Tech running back Mike Weber, like Malzone, is a lifelong Michigan fan. Unlike Mal‑ zone, he is a little uneasy about the season U‑M is having. The 5‑10, 205‑pounder is keeping his options open when it comes to taking a look at other schools should the Maize and Blue continue to struggle. "I'm not really sure right now. I'm just letting the moment sink in," We‑ ber admitted.
