BASKETBALL RECRUITING Cassius Winston (6-0, 165, PG, No. 35 player nationally): Most still believe Winston's services may be a two‑horse race between Michigan State and Michigan. Winston, who has been on campus six times in the last three months or so, has picked up a U‑M offer. He's visited MSU, George‑ town, Michigan and Ohio State but is in no hurry to make a decision. Iowa State, Pitt, Boston College, Miami, Georgetown and Maryland are others on his list. He hails from Detroit U‑D Jesuit, the same school as former U‑M big man Jordan Morgan. Quentin Goodin (6-2, 170, PG, No. 78 player in the country): Michi‑ gan has long been solid with the Campbellsville (Ky.) Taylor County High point guard, but others are emerging that could be tough to beat. Michigan, Marquette and Indiana were considered three extremely high on his list at one point — he hopes to narrow that list to 10 in the near future. One school, Florida, has made a move. He told KentuckyPreps.com that Billy Donovan's Gators might be the favorite, though he's long been enamored with Kentucky (which has yet to offer). T.J. Leaf (6-9, 210, PF, No. 18 pros- pect in the land): Coached by his fa‑ ther, the El Cajon, Calif., product has emerged as one of the best big men in the country. He's very versatile, show‑ ing an ability to shoot, pass and re‑ bound. He has Indiana roots, has been a big Hoosiers fan and has visited IU three times, but he's been to Michigan twice. UCLA and Arizona are in there, and Florida and Duke are also heavily involved. He averaged 26.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game as a soph‑ omore and earned an offer in June. He's visited Florida, was slated to see Arizona Oct. 18 and Duke Oct. 25 for "Countdown to Craziness," the Blue Devils' version of Midnight Madness. We still think U‑M is a leader. ❏ On The Web For regular reports on basketball recruiting, plus videos of all the top prospects in the nation and Michigan's commitments, visit TheWolverine.com.
