The NHL MAX PACIORETTY SCORES THE NHL SEASON'S FIRST GOAL Former Michigan forward Max Pacioretty scored the first goal of any team during the NHL's season‑ opening night Oct. 8, and it came on the Montreal Canadiens' first shot in a 4‑3 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. The goal was scored at 4:42 of the first period. Pacioretty, the team's leading scorer with 39 goals a year ago, logged 18:17 of ice time in the opener and averages 18:19 this year. He's scored two goals and two assists, and has also joined the team's penalty killing unit. "Max has a lot of speed, and I think we'll be able to use that," teammate Tomas Plekanec said. He he found the back of the net once and added two assists in a 6‑4 win over Boston Oct. 16. FORMER WOLVERINES ON NHL ROSTERS Through Oct. 20 • Mike Brown (Played at U-M from 2004-05), RW, San Jose Sharks: Went on injured reserve with a hand injury after only two games … Has yet to reg‑ ister a point and stands even with two shots on goal. • Mike Cammalleri (2000-02), LW, New Jersey Devils: Off to a great start with five goals and two assists through five games … Stands plus‑three with 25 shots on goal and two power‑play goals.
