NOVEMBER 2014 ■ 119 also lost five other seniors. Losing nine guys is never easy. Our guys are ready to take another step, plus the freshmen coming in." NC State's recruiting class was ranked No. 6 in the country by CollegeSwimming. com. Four of the incoming freshmen were rated among the top 50, with Anton Ipsen of Birkeroed, Denmark, ranked No. 17 overall in the country. "Some of them have already posted some times that rank pretty well in the country," Holloway said. "They can come up and challenge right away. If our men's team is to take another step, they have to do that." Freshman Charles Mitchell has been han- dling the diving duties for the men's team. "He is off to a good start and just has to add more to the diving dynamics each and every day," Holloway said. Holloway said the men's team is starting to drive the ship themselves and doesn't need him to point out each step up the lad- der. He knows his swimmers are striving to improve upon what they accomplished a year ago. NC State finished runner-up at the ACC Championships behind Virginia Tech. "When I first came here, it was a coach- led team and now it is an athlete-led team," Holloway said. "That is the way I want it. I always tell them that if a coach wants it more than them, it is never going to hap- pen. They have to want it more than the coach." ■ Newcomer To Watch Anton Ipsen The freshman from Birk- eroed, Denmark, was ranked No. 17 overall in the class of 2014 by CollegeSwimming.com.
