GAME PREVIEW: ARIZONA STATE BY ANDREW OWENS O n one play, Arizona State's season swiftly shifted in its favor and left open the possibility of a confer- ence championship and major bowl game. At the Los Angeles Coliseum on Oct. 4, backup redshirt junior quarterback Mike Bercovici heaved a last-gasp Hail Mary that redshirt junior wide receiver Jaelen Strong somehow caught in the end zone as time expired to hand the Sun Devils a miraculous 38-34 win at USC. Without that score, Arizona State would have fallen to 1-2 in the ultra- competitive Pac-12 South after entering the 2014 campaign with high expecta- tions.
