PSU The Nittany Lions lead the all-time series, 16-1. MOST RECENT MEETING In what some fans consider the low point of Bill O'Brien's two seasons as head coach, the Nittany Lions gave up three fourth-quarter touchdowns and lost to the Hoosiers, 44-24, last October in Bloomington. The Lions at- tempted 55 passes against one of the Big Ten's worst rushing de- fenses, and even though Christian Hackenberg threw for 340 yards, it wasn't nearly enough to prevent Penn State's first loss in 17 games vs. Indiana. GOOD NEWS Tevin Coleman is having a re- markable season for the Hoosiers. His average of 162.5 yards per game tops the Football Bowl Subdivision. BAD NEWS Injuries have decimated Indiana's passing game. In losses to Michi- gan State and Michigan the past two weeks, the Hoosiers threw for a total of 35 yards. DID YOU KNOW? Coleman is the only FBS running back to have topped 100 yards in every game this season. His rush- ing performance to date stands in stark contrast to Penn State's. Photo by Steve Manuel NEW DIRECTION Someone's losing streak will end when PSU meets Indiana For all the hits he's absorbed playing behind the Big Ten's most porous offensive line, Christian Hackenberg has taken almost every snap for Penn State this season. The Nittany Lions have been lucky in that re- gard. When you give up a league-worst 30 sacks, as Penn State has done, you don't necessarily expect your starting quarterback to still be standing tall in week nine. But when the Lions travel to Indiana this weekend for their second visit to Bloomington in as many years, Hackenberg will be making his 21st consecutive start, a streak dating back to PSU's 2013 season opener. To a team like the Hoosiers, that sort of durability must seem super- human. That's because they've been going through quarterbacks at a prodigious rate. This past off-season, Tre Roberson and Cam Coffman trans- ferred aCer losing the starting job to Nate Sudfeld.
