PATRIOTIC DUTY
Fourth-year women's soccer standout Morgan Brian made her CONCA-
CAF World Cup Qualifying debut Oct. 20 and found the back of the net
once to help Team USA defeat Haiti 6-0. Brian, the only collegian on the
20-player national team roster for qualifying, entered in the 63rd minute
and played the final 27 minutes. She tallied her third international goal by
one-timing a left-footed strike from inside the box.
She also played 23 minutes as a substitute in the 3-0 semifinal win over
Mexico Oct. 24 that clinched a Women's World Cup berth and started the
championship game, a 6-0 win over Costa Rica Oct. 26, to record her 15th
and 16th caps with Team USA. Against Costa Rica, she played 50 minutes
and assisted on Abby Wambach's goal in the fourth minute.
