STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITIES Virginia's world-class facilities also make a huge dif- ference for its student-athletes on the playing field. John Paul Jones Arena is a unique facility that not only houses both basketball programs, but benefits the en- tire athletics department. In addition to practice courts and the 14,593-seat gymnasium that provides a sig- nificant home court advantage, the student-athletes' dining hall and academic center are located inside, as well as weight and training rooms with a variety of new technology that keeps athletes at their best. Forward Sarah Beth Barnette began her career at Kentucky before she transferred to Virginia, so she has seen the tools utilized by two top-tier programs and had an inside look at countless arenas. She noted that Virginia's amenities stack up favorably with everybody else in the country, but the people in charge of those special tools separate the Cavaliers.
