Former consensus All-American is still living the dream 50 years later BY LOU SOMOGYI A t every Notre Dame postseason football banquet from 1986-96, head coach Lou Holtz would state his admiration of the team's walk-on players with one sentence: I wish I could own at least one percent of each of their futures. The qualities of initiative, ambition, courage, sacrifice, perseverance and dedication of a walk-on, whether they become starters or stay in the back- ground, has a tendency to carry on through life, with Nick Rassas one of Nick Rassas, 1963-65 Safety/Return Man Rassas earned consensus All-America honors in 1965 while setting Notre Dame records that still stand in punt return and interception return yards.
