  MICHIGAN HOCKEY HOCKEY REWIND: OCT. 4-NOV. 15 Overall Record: 4-5-0 National Ranking: Unranked Pairwise Ranking: Not available yet Best Win — Oct. 24 at UMass Low- ell: Michigan exploded offensively for an 8-4 road win against No. 8 UMass Lowell. Senior forward Zach Hyman scored a hat trick and added a pair of assists. Freshman Dylan Larkin had a goal and three assists, while Alex Kile added a goal and two assists. Defenseman Zach Werenski contributed a goal and an assist, and goaltender Steve Racine made 29 saves in the victory. Worst Loss — Oct. 17 vs. New Hampshire: Unranked New Hamp- shire walked into Yost Arena for Mich- igan's home opener and dominated the Wolverines 5-1. New Hampshire built a 5-0 lead before Kile's goal spoiled the Wildcats' shutout bid late in the third period. MVP — Zach Hyman: Through the Wolverines' first nine games, the senior assistant captain had a team-best 10 points, and he was tied for the team lead in both goals (four) and assists (six). Hyman's stellar defensive skills and leader- ship are crucial to Michigan, in addition to his prime offensive performance. On The Rise — Alex Kile: The sophomore has parlayed his status as left wing on a line with Larkin and Hyman to trail only Hyman in team scoring. His four goals and five assists include three power play goals. Top Freshman — Zach Werenski: Joining Michigan just before classes started in September, the rookie has used his elite skating and offensive skills to add an important attacking component to Michigan's blue line corps. Werenski, who has tallied two goals and six assists, is a consensus first-round selection in next June's NHL Entry Draft. Game To Watch — Dec. 13 at Boston College: Michigan travels to Chestnut Hill, Mass., to challenge perennial Hockey East power Boston College. The Eagles have struggled a little out of the gate, like Michigan, but it's always a battle when two of the most storied programs in college hockey meet. — Bob Miller Senior forward Zach Hyman posted a team- high 10 points through nine games, and he was tied for the team lead in both goals (four) and assists (six).
