  MICHIGAN FOOTBALL who demonstrates outstanding com- munity service. In his final season with the Wolver- ines, Beyer had notched 32 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks through 10 games. The sack total represented his career high and was tied for 10th in the Big Ten at the time of his listing as a finalist. He'd notched 89 career stops, including 11 stops behind the line of scrimmage and 7.5 sacks. A psychology major, Beyer is a two- time Academic All-Big Ten performer, and earned the 2013 U-M Athletic Aca- demic Achievement Award. A member of Athletes In Action, he's taken three mission trips through the organization, two to Los Angeles and another to Puerto Rico. He participated in the Urban Project in California, serv- ing where poverty and gang activity pervade. He's helped renovate play- grounds, wrapped Christmas presents for the disadvantaged and performed many other duties with the group. Outside of AIA, Beyer has volunteered at the Bryant Community Center, help- ing children with homework. He's a regular visitor to C.S. Mott Children's Hospital as well. A committee including the Wuerffel Trophy national directors, selection committee and past winners will make this year's award choice, to be announced Dec. 9 and presented in Florida on Feb. 13, 2015.
