BASKETBALL RECRUITING
to see as many schools as possible, as
often as possible.
"We've been fortunate to be able to
have the means to make these trips,
and we've taken full advantage of it,"
Battle said. "I think it's important for
my son to pick the school that he's
going to pick after being there a few
times. Different things can hit you at
different times."
Battle's good friend, 6-1, 2016 point
guard Derryck Thornton Jr., is down
to 10 schools. The Henderson (Nev.)
Findlay Prep standout, the No. 11 ju-
nior nationally according to Rivals.
com, and Battle have talked about
playing together at the next level, and
U-M is a viable option.
Duke, Kentucky, Louisville, Ari-
zona, California, USC, Miami, UNLV
and North Carolina State join Michi-
gan on his list.
Finally, Columbus (Ohio) Northland
2016 shooting guard Seth Towns (6-7,
180, Rivals.com's No. 124 junior na-
tionally) picked up a coveted Ohio
State offer at the end of October that
could be a game changer. Towns was
at OSU for an open scrimmage prior
to the Buckeyes' home football game
against Illinois and received his offer
there.
Towns also holds offers from Iowa,
Air Force and Purdue. He camped at
U-M over the summer and has long
had the Wolverines at or near the top
of his list, but the stakes just got a bit
higher. ā
