Jamestown Ragsdale High in 2005. Roseboro is also listed by Rivals.com as the No. 6 defensive tackle and No. 42 overall player nationally. That makes him the highest-ranked player to pick the Pack since five-star offensive tackle Rob Crisp, who was rated No. 13 in the 2010 class. Lincolnton High head coach Bobby Cloninger said that Roseboro is certainly one of the top prep performers he has seen. "I've been in Lincolnton a long time, and he's top of the line," Cloninger said. "He's one of the best players we've ever had, and we've had some great ones here. He's up in that elite group, that's for sure. "NC State is getting a big, strong ath- lete. I feel like he's probably ready to play at the next level. I've seen some defensive ends who were smallish, but if you look at his size, I feel if he gets there early like he's planning on and fits in and learns the system, he can play early." Where Roseboro will play down the road is debatable. NC State is recruiting him for defensive end, but Rivals.com ana- lysts believe he will be a defensive tackle, which is why he was vaulted to No. 1 in the state rankings. "He is a special talent because he origi- nally was a defensive end," said Rivals. com recruiting analyst Adam Friedman, who has North Carolina as part of his cov- erage territory. "We had him classified as a strongside defensive end, and we origi- nally thought he was someone that would be in the 260-pound range. He has since added a lot of weight, but it has not af- fected his speed off the line. "To be at 280 pounds but to still have the speed of a defensive end, that's a killer combo for a defensive tackle." "Once we realized Roseboro projected inside at the next level, his value increased because DTs that can also get after the passer are at a premium. We were very impressed with him at the Shrine Bowl tryouts," Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Mike Farrell added. "He's a big kid who projects at one of the top positions of need for any program, and he's consistently gotten bigger and better each time we see him. "He has that experience of an outside pass rusher that he can bring inside." Five More Also Commit To NC State Football Darian Roseboro was one of two top in- state recruits to recently verbally commit to NC State. Greensboro (N.C.) Southern Guil- ford running back Reggie Gallaspy, who like Roseboro has been selected to play in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas All-Star Game, picked the Pack over a final five that also included Arkansas, Duke, Michigan State and Vanderbilt. Gallaspy rushed 249 times for 2,376 yards and 35 touchdowns to help Southern Guil- ford to its first ever 10-0 start in school his- tory. Rivals.com rates Gallaspy as a three- star prospect, the No. 14 recruit in the state and the No. 39 running back nationally. The 5-10, 215-pounder had visited NCSU for its season opener against Georgia South- ern Aug. 31 and was back for an official visit when NC State hosted No. 1 Florida State Sept. 27. He committed while on that latter trip. "This has been building up because ev- ery time I go there, I get a certain feeling," Gallaspy said. "I believe my heart says this is where I should be playing and where I should be. I always had a good feeling, but TRACKING THE PACK
