FOOTBALL RECRUITING The next offer for the Irish went out to a Notre Dame legacy. Lake Ste- vens (Wash.) High five-star quarter- back Jacob Eason, the son of former Notre Dame wide receiver Tony Ea- son (1985-86), added an offer from the Irish, to go along with tenders from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Okla- homa State and many others. W h i l e m a n y b e l i e v e d N o t re Dame would be a player for the 6-5, 205-pounder, Eason ended his recruit- ment early with a commitment to the University of Georgia July 19. Per 247Sports, Eason is the No. 4 overall player in the nation, the No. 1 pro-style quarterback in the land and the No. 1 prospect in Washington. The sixth signal-caller to receive an offer from Notre Dame this cycle was Potomac (Md.) The Bullis School four- star pro-style quarterback Dwayne Haskins. He holds offers from many of the nation's top programs, including Ohio State, Penn State, Texas A&M, Florida, and Florida State, among oth- ers. The 6-2, 185-pounder made it to South Bend for an unofficial visit June 24, and the Irish staff likely did enough to secure one of his five offi- cial visits during his senior campaign. National perception is that Ohio State holds the early edge, but look for the Irish to be in it until the end.
