His facial expression isn't one of frustration or
anger, necessarily, but more of a dumbstruck
gaze. Re,ecting on the previous two or three
hours, he explains that, for the life of him, he
simply could not +gure out how to stop D.J.
Newbill. Replaying the game in his head, he sees
the Nittany Lion senior guard make one dagger
play a-er another. The words come haltingly,
painfully.
"We... we... we couldn't guard him there down
the stretch."
That was Buzz Williams' take, half an hour a-er
his Virginia Tech Hokies fell, 61-58, to Newbill
and the Nittany Lions at the Bryce Jordan Center
in early December. His assessment echoed that
