PREP PROFILES Notre Dame has offered Woodbridge (Va.) Freedom four-star defensive end Kyree Campbell, one of the most talented players at his position in the class of 2016. The 6-5, 283-pound re c r u i t h a s a l s o picked up offers from Ohio State, Florida State, North Carolina, South Carolina and many others. Accord- ing to both Campbell and Freedom head coach Gary Wortham Sr., this offer means a great deal to the tal- ented junior and his family. "Notre Dame came out to speak with me because they have restrictions with contacting the players," Wortham said. "We gave Kyree the news, and he's been excited ever since. "His mom was excited. The whole re- cruiting process has been exciting. Kyree has a 2-year-old brother and a 13-year- old sister. He's got a lot of responsibilities, and he's trying to make something for himself. He's just appreciative of every- thing. She likes a lot about Notre Dame and the prestige of the education offered in South Bend." A big part of Campbell's early interest in the Irish is due to the recruiting efforts of Notre Dame tight ends coach Scott Booker. He's been relentless in his pursuit of the Virginia standout. "Coach Booker has been consistent, very consistent," Wortham said. "That's very important to me, Kyree and his mother. He is there when I need to in- q u i re w i t h h i m . We ' re i m p re s s e d with Coach Booker." Wo r t h a m s a i d that a trip to South Bend isn't set at this time, but they will definitely visit Notre Dame for a Junior Day in 2015. Along with the Irish, visits will be made to Ala- bama, Penn State, North Carolina and Ohio State. Many schools have been seeing Camp- bell at Freedom High School over the past few months. Although Notre Dame just offered, the Irish are among the pro- grams recruiting Campbell the hardest. "There are a few standing out," Camp- bell said regarding any early leaders. "Notre Dame, UNC, Ohio State, Penn State, Alabama, Michigan and Virginia Tech. "I knew Notre Dame was recruiting me but wasn't expecting the offer. When I got the offer I was excited and went back to class with a smile on my face. There's just so much to like about Notre Dame. I'm just glad to know I'm getting recruited by them." — Tom Loy Effort Of Staff Has ND In Hunt For Talented Defensive End KYREE CAMPBELL ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ Freedom High School Woodbridge, Va.
