Where the Irish need to compensate with Mabrey and Reimer is providing at least a third consistent scoring option, if not fourth. Mabrey (8.0 points per game) is a three-point specialist who was instant offense off the bench last season and has excelled as a passer this season in a starting role with her 41 assists second to Allen's 45. Her shooting stroke in the redefined role has plummeted, though, notably 4 of 27 (14.8 percent) from the field in the consecutive games against UConn, DePaul and Michigan. Reimer (10.2 points and a team-high 6.4 rebounds through the first 11 games) has had flashes, highlighted by a career- high 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting dur- ing the victory over Maryland, but has struggled on other occasions, including seven turnovers versus Michigan. When Turner returns, Mabrey pos- sibly might be able to return to a role as a spark off the bench, because senior Madison Cable has provided a huge boost as a starter on both ends of the floor with her energy, hustle and skills.
