PREP PROFILES When searching for a class of 2016 target that could see his recruitment take off in a big way in the coming months, look no further than Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange three-star quarterback Ervin Barrett. K n o w n a s "Woody," the 6-2, 213-pound recruit holds offers from Auburn, Louisville, C l e m s o n , K e n - tucky, Ohio State and others. Notre Dame offered Bar- rett Nov. 25, and the Irish could be a dark horse to land the Sunshine State native. "I'm blessed," Barrett said. "It means so much. Notre Dame is a great school. It's a school that everyone knows all about. There is a lot of tradition there. They've won a lot of big games and some national championships. It's kind of hard to top the tradition there and the school when you're looking at football. "The academics are really good, too. If you work hard and do your job and put in the effort, you're going to get set up with a nice job once you graduate. That's something that you can't find at just any school. I guess you could say that is what stands out most about Notre Dame." Notre Dame running backs coach Tony Alford, who passed the good news along to Barrett personally, has already made a strong impression on the junior signal-caller. "Coach Alford is real," Barrett said. "He tells it like it is. I heard from my coach that they were going to of- fer within a day or so, and then Coach Alford told me I had an offer the very next day. That meant a lot. It was cool to have the of- fer, and it showed me that he is a man of his word and I can trust him." Although he doesn't have any trips set at this point, Barrett would like to take some unofficial visits in the spring and summer months, before taking official visits in the fall. "I'm going to try to take an official visit or get there before that," Barrett said. "There are a lot of schools to con- sider right now, so I'm still trying to work it all out. I'd like to get up and see Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan and Michigan State all in the same trip. I'm pretty sure that Ohio State and Notre Dame will be two schools I take official visits to." — Tom Loy Irish Make Good First Impression On 2016 QB ERVIN "WOODY" BARRETT ✪ ✪ ✪ West Orange High School Winter Garden, Fla.
