After Rivals100 defensive tackle Chris- tian Wilkins committed to Clemson, Nittany Lion head coach James Franklin and defensive line coach Sean Spencer quickly moved on, extending an offer to Windsor within an hour of Wilkins' de- cision. "The D-line coach, Coach Spencer, he called me and we had a little conversa- tion," Windsor said. "He just got right to the point really and told me that Penn State had an offer for me. That was pretty exciting because I didn't really know if they were serious or not. "But I was happy to get that one, for sure." It was only the second time Windsor had gotten to talk to Spencer, so the re- lationship between the two is still rela- tively new. However, the 6-foot-5, 260-pound three-star prospect is more familiar with the Penn State football program than one might think. "I know their head coach is really good and they have a great recruiting class coming in," he said. "I know they had a really good defense this year. They fin- ished as one of the top teams [defen- sively] in the Big Ten. They seem like they're moving in the right direction and getting better. I know it's a great school, too. "My dad actually did his residency at Penn State when he was getting his doc- torate. He enjoyed it there." During his conversation with Spencer, both sides also decided to not waste any time in setting up an official visit. With 20-plus prospects expected to be on campus Jan. 23-25, Franklin and Spencer thought that would be the perfect week- end for Windsor to not only learn about the campus and facilities, but also to meet what could turn out to be his future teammates. As for the rest of his travel itinerary, that's still taking shape. "I'm really not sure what I'm going to do with other schools," Windsor said. "It's been really crazy lately. I never know what schools are going to start hitting me up, so I'm going to see what happens in the next week or two and then I'll fig- ure that all out." Windsor has taken one official visit so far, traveling to Champaign in the first week of December to check out Illinois. At one point, he was looking to visit both Pitt and Vanderbilt in January, but he's since put both of those visits on hold. Maryland extended an offer on Jan. 3. He hasn't yet made plans to visit College Park, but it appears as if Maryland and Iowa State are the most likely schools to earn an official visit from Windsor be- fore February.
