FROM OUR READERS too good to be true. You have an incredible collection of football intelligence and ex- perience on this staff. How do you manage it all? I mean I guess that's Jim Harbaugh's job, but the only thing I worry about is a lot of egos in the room that were all used to heavier titles now playing lesser roles and having difficulty coping with that … that's the only concern I can think of, honestly, because on paper I'm not sure there's a better-résumé coaching staff in the country. nlaws33 • Not with the right head chef. jjkraus • I agree with jjkraus. This video with Jack Harbaugh talks about his days with Bo and how Bo would foment conflict in meetings if everyone was getting along. So they'd argue like crazy, Bo would fire Jerry Hanlon (much like Woody fired Bo), but then once the decision was made — that was it. Everyone got into line and sup- ported it. Jim has the chops, gravitas, whatever you want to call it where he can bring in a bunch of guys with strong egos and résumés and get the best out of them. This is going to be fun. Cal Varnsen • The fact that we're debating the merits of hiring a coach who was an offensive coordinator in the NFL just last season as a position coach in this staff, in my humble opinion, shows just how incredible this staff is. When you add to that the fact that the head coach is a top 3-5 coach in the country (again, in my humble opinion), it gets really exciting. We are going to roll! Cincinnati Wolverine • The Harbaugh coaching tree will continue to grow. It's nice to see all of these assistants joining the staff for various reasons — one being a nice paycheck, but also Jim Harbaugh's track record of putting coaches in head coaching spots after working under him. It's going to be a good thing when we have a coach leave each year down the road (ideally they won't go, but we will replace them with elite as- sistants looking for the same boost). We're getting guys to take demotions in title just to work under him for a few years before jumping back out into a big-time job. There's no doubt that every single guy, besides maybe Greg Mattison and [John] Baxter because of age/stage in coaching life will be a head coach in the next 5-8 years. If we win 10 games this season with a stellar offense/defense, expect 20 schools to be calling for our offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator. I wouldn't be
