M ichigan's coaching staff will have to work quickly to close out the 2015 recruiting class. If they don't land one of the top classes in the nation, it won't be a surprise — U‑M is one of just a handful of power programs with fewer than 20 scholar‑ ships open in the class — but it also won't be due to a lack of effort. Jim Harbaugh and his staff are set for a busy January, with official visitors ga‑ lore hitting campus. The top‑ranked player with a Mich‑ igan visit set — in fact one of the top players in the entire country — is Long Beach (Calif.) Poly cornerback Iman Marshall. The 6‑1, 194‑pounder is Rivals.com's No. 4 overall player in the nation and tops at his position. He has a busy January of his own and will fit U‑M in for a midweek trip beginning Jan. 19. Likely in town at the same time will be local athlete John Kelly. The 5‑10, 191‑pounder is a three‑star recruit and the No. 28 ath‑ lete nationally. The biggest weekend for U‑M will be the first after the conclusion of the dead period. Two commits — four‑ star safety Tyree Kinnel and two‑ star kicker Andrew David — will be joined by some of the Wolverines' top remaining 2015 targets on‑campus for official visits Jan. 16‑18. Perhaps the most important of the uncommitted official visitors that weekend is Avon (Conn.) Old Farms tight end Chris Clark. The one‑time Michigan commit is tops nationally at his position (and No. 67 overall), a 6‑5, 253‑pounder with excellent abil‑ ity as a blocker and a receiver. UCLA is his other finalist, with a visit to Los Angeles planned the following weekend. Montezuma (Ga.) Macon County four‑star linebacker Roquan Smith is also due on campus. The 6‑0, 203‑pounder had a strong relationship with defensive coordinator DJ Durkin when he was in the same role at Flor‑ ida, and picked up a U‑M offer when Durkin earned a job in Ann Arbor. He's the No. 64 overall prospect and No. 7 outside linebacker nationally, an athletic prospect with the ability to rush the passer or play in coverage. Closing out the group is Fort Lau‑   MICHIGAN RECRUITING Visits Planned Long Beach (Calif.) Poly cornerback Iman Marshall — who is listed by Rivals.com as the top player at his position and the No. 4 overall recruit nationally — was slated to visit Ann Arbor Jan. 19.
