HONORING "THE HAWK"
Former Irish forward Tom Hawkins (1956-59) was added to the Ring of
Honor at Purcell Pavilion Jan. 17 at halftime of Notre Dame's 75-70 win
over Miami. Hawkins is the program's all-time leading rebounder with 1,318
career boards — the longest-standing record in the 109-year history of Irish
hoops. The two-time All-American also averaged 23.0 points per game dur-
ing his career and helped the Irish reach the Elite Eight during his junior
campaign in 1957-58.
