STATISTICS • Made 74 tackles and intercepted seven passes as a senior. Also rushed for 400 yards and eight touchdowns as a part-time quarterback. • Tallied 62 tackles and 2.5 stops for loss and two picks as a junior. Had the win-clinching intercep- tion in the state championship game for Warren Central. HONORS • Named the Indianapolis Star 's Super Team Player of the Year and Mr. Football award winner at defensive back as a senior. Finished third in the state's overall Mr. Football voting. • Honored as the State Defensive Player of the Year by IndianaPreps.com following his senior campaign. • Named to 2014 Indiana Class 6A all-state team by the Associated Press. • Earned a spot on the American Family Insurance All-USA Indiana team as defensive back. • A two-time first-team all-state selection and three-time all-conference performer at safety. RECRUITMENT • Pledged to Notre Dame on Dec. 19, 2014. • Picked the Irish over Louisville, Minnesota, Mis- sissippi, Mississippi State, Nebraska and Wiscon- sin, among others. • Primary recruiter for Notre Dame was defensive line coach Mike Elston. • Traveled to South Bend for his official visit on Jan. 16, 2015. • Also made an official visit to Minnesota, plus unofficial trips to Michigan State, Ole Miss, Mis- sissippi State, Indiana, Ohio State and Louisville. NOTABLE • Born on Sept. 2, 1996 • Carries a 3.1 GPA. Has made the honor roll ev- ery semester since his sophomore year. • Also competes on Warren Central's track & field team, in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash and the 4x100-meter relay. • Hails from the same high school as junior defen- sive lineman Sheldon Day. 2015 PROJECTION • Irish coaches reportedly told him to be ready to play as a true freshman. THEY SAID IT Brian Kelly's Comments: "He's a guy that can play the ball off the hash, he can run the alley, he can play man to man, he's smart, he's got a high football IQ, he loves to play the game. And you know, checks all the boxes. A good student, great character … a guy that's going to have a chance to compete right away. He's got that kind of skill set." Tom Lemming Of Prep Football Report: "He just makes plays. He has exceptional instincts, and he always seems to be around the ball. He's a really good catch for Notre Dame." Why He Chose Notre Dame: "Growing up I always wanted to be a part of Notre Dame. Seeing [fel- low Warren Central alum and current Irish junior defensive lineman] Sheldon [Day] go there and be successful is what made me pull the trigger, too. It's basically a dream come true. You're home with your family, you get to play great football and get a great education. There's nothing like it."
