2015 RECRUITING ISSUE in person. Yoon agreed to the terms of what ended up being an open tryout at the Irish special teams camp. "Notre Dame knew about him and all the offers he had," Kohl said. "But it was his performance at that summer camp in certain drills that convinced the staff." Yoon was offered by Notre Dame on June 22, 2014. He committed just two days after receiving the offer and be- came the third scholarship kicker in the Brian Kelly era at Notre Dame. While he missed much of his season with a back injury, he proved why he was the nation's top ranked kicker at the Under Armour All-American Game Jan. 2 in St. Petersburg, Fla. Yoon set game records for most field goals made (three) and longest field goal (47). "It's all kind of just crazy," Yoon said. "Going from sport to sport like that, and then all of the sudden just finding something that worked. I didn't think it would ever happen." ✦ BGI FILM ANALYSIS: JUSTIN YOON Strengths Has impressive leg strength … The ball explodes off of his foot … He has had kickoffs that have eclipsed the 80-yard mark … He's considered the top kicker prospect in the country by Kohl's Kicking Camps … He already possesses the ability to make 60-yard field goals off of the ground. Areas For Improvement He needs to continue improving his acceleration on kickoff attempts … Adding weight and mass to his lean frame will help add power and distance to his kicking ability.
