ND SPORTS TRACK AND CROSS COUNTRY PROGRAMS LAND LOCAL STAR On Feb. 5, Mishawaka (Ind.) High School senior Anna Rohrer committed to Notre Dame to run track and cross country. "I'm excited to say I will be running for the University of Notre Dame next year! #GoIrish," she tweeted. The local talent has won multiple national championships, and chose the Irish over Michigan, Providence and Stanford. The Gatorade National Female Cross Country Athlete of the Year underwent surgery after suffering a broken foot and torn tendon in 2013. Her goal is to participate in the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials and compete in the 2020 and 2024 games. IRISH RANK 17TH IN DIRECTORS' CUP STANDINGS Through the Jan. 14 rankings of the Directors' Cup, Notre Dame was 17th in the national competition of athlet- ics departments' men and women's programs. Last year, Notre Dame's first in the ACC, it finished third in the Directors' Cup for the school's best-ever finish and secured the Capital One Cup for men's sports programs. ✦ Irish Roundup HOCKEY (12-14-4, 7-5-4 HOCKEY EAST) The Irish finished with a tie and a win in a pair of road games at Maine Feb. 6-7 and remain below .500 on the season. Mario Lucia (points in both games) and Anders Bjork (two goals and two assists) ignited the Notre Dame offense. Along with sophomore Vince Hinostroza, the trio combined for 12 points in two games. After goalie Chad Katunar allowed four goals in the first game, a 4-4 tie, freshman Cal Petersen made 33 saves the next evening in a 5-1 victory. MEN'S SWIMMING (6-6) Notre Dame concluded its regular season with a 226-66 victory over Cleveland State Feb. 7. The Irish finished 6-6 under first-year head coach Matt Tallman. Sophomore Joe Coumos broke the school record in the three-meter springboard with 409.27 points. The Irish will compete in the ACC Diving Championships Feb. 18-21 and the ACC Swimming Champion- ships Feb. 25-28 in Atlanta. WOMEN'S SWIMMING (7-9) Notre Dame topped Cleveland State 209-80 to conclude its regular season Feb. 7. The Irish won 14 of 16 events on the afternoon to improve to 7-9 on the season. The Irish will participate in the ACC Championships Feb. 18-21 at Atlanta. — Andrew Owens
