2015 RECRUITING ISSUE Even a short conversation with Guy- ton displays maturity beyond his years. It is likely his high school experiences will put him at an advantage when he and the other members of the class ar- rive at Notre Dame in June. "Growing up in Texas, you get that atmosphere," he said. "Not necessar- ily all of Texas, but making it all the way to a state championship in Texas and playing a high level of football in 6A, it's definitely going to bring the atmosphere. Most growing up haven't played in front of 56,000 fans before. "As far as that goes, just playing foot- ball in Texas at such a high level should help any kid. College is a big experi- ence, so if you can somewhat simulate it before you get here, it will help you in the long run." Whether it's playing in front of thou- sands of fans or moving between re- ceiver positions, Guyton just quietly goes about his business and lets the sta- tistics do the talking. ✦ BGI FILM ANALYSIS: JALEN GUYTON Strengths Possesses above average speed … Does well with getting in and out of his breaks … Very effective in the slot … A smooth, fluid player … Speed and stride allow for great separation from defenders … Explosive first step off the snap … Many similarities to former ND receiver TJ Jones and current pass catcher Will Fuller in his game. Areas For Improvement Route running will need to be polished … Needs to work on timing when attacking the ball in the air … Typically faster than his opponent, but will need to add versatility to his game at the next level … Doesn't have to go over the middle often, but will in college.
