He also at- tended a French school while living in California. By the time he made it to high school, not only was he catching 200 footballs a night with his dad, but he was also reading German political ar- ticles with his mom in the morning. It was an unusual routine, but one that St. Brown said he embraced with open arms. "It gave me a wide view of a lot of different cultures," St. Brown said. "Looking back, I think it's good for kids to travel and know what is out there in life. It gives you a different perspective and something to consider when making decisions." Where that perspective really helped, however, was when it came to picking a college. It was clear after his freshman season at Servite that he had the talent to play at the next level, but the first scholarship offer didn't come until Illinois offered before the summer of his junior season. St. Brown didn't realize it at the time, but that offer from the Illini is one of the reasons he actually ended up at Notre Dame. After a junior campaign in which he earned All-Trinity League honors, St. Brown continued to receive offers. USC, Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, Stanford and Cal all came calling, but so did Northwestern and Notre Dame. That gave St. Brown a trio of options As a senior at Anaheim (Calif.)
