T H E C L A S S O F 2 0 1 5 WHAT HE DID With his tremendous size and athletic ability, Jenkins began attracting attention even before his junior season at Baldwin. He was rated a high four-star prospect by Rivals.com in 2013, with analysts pegging him as a prototyp- ical le@ tackle. But he had his ups and downs against some of the nation's top prospects on the summer camp circuit and slipped a bit in the rankings. WHAT HE WON Jenkins skyrocketed into the Rivals100, then gradually began falling. He eventually fell out of the Ri- vals250 altogether, en- sive tackle in the nation. He was an honorable mention All- Conference choice by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. WHERE HE VISITED Jenkins was recruited by an assortment of big-time schools, including Alabama, Georgia, Michi- gan, Ohio State, Pitt, Tennessee and Virginia Tech. His re- cruitment ultimately turned into a battle between the Nit- tany Lions and Buckeyes – a battle that ended when he committed to the Lions in May. In October, Jenkins was on hand for Penn State's overtime loss to Ohio State. It was his only official visit before enrolling at University Park in January. QUOTABLE Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Mike Farrell: "I still believe in Jenkins even though he has gone from a high four-star to a high three-star because he hasn't developed the strength or technique to be a tackle yet. His ceiling is still as high as anyone's, and if he can be coached up, he has at the facility. I put them on the scale and Sterling was 326.7. And it's good weight. So he's doing extremely well. The strength sta> has just been raving about him." PHIL'S TAKE Jenkins is one of the tallest o>ensive linemen the Nittany Lions have ever recruited and will deer, including Pitt, Duke, Wake Forest, Illinois and Indiana. He committed to the Nittany Li- ons in May, about a month and a half a@er picking up an of- fer. He later received an o>er from Florida State but never wavered in his commitment to Penn State. QUOTABLE Holland on defensive line coach Sean Spencer: "Coach Spence is the right guy for me. He's proven himself in arguably the toughest conference in football. He knows what it takes to push us to be the best we can be. He knows what he wants in his defensive linemen, so he has a plan and he just needs the right guys to execute that plan. So, with him, it's the best of both worlds. I'm getting an excellent coach, someone who's going to make me a great player, but he's also your friend o> the ective blocker. He reminds me of Adam Breneman. I can envision him playing this fall. JONATHAN HOLLAND RIVALS ★★★ POS TE HT 6-4 WT 235 HOME Brandywine, Md. SCHOOL Bullis School
