his energy. He is a very energetic guy, likes to have a lot of fun, and that's really one aspect that helped him re- late to the players." Jay Harbaugh won't be any stranger to Michigan football lore, and he'll be tabbed to guide the Wol- verines' tight ends. The son of U-M's new head coach already owns a Su- per Bowl championship ring, from his time as the Baltimore Ravens' of- fensive quality control coach. T.J. Weist, Michigan's new senior offensive analyst, worked for Gary Moeller 's U-M staffs from 1990-93 before moving on to a variety of coaching positions, most recently as UConn's offensive coordinator. He'll bring a deep knowledge of Michigan football, along with additional of- fensive savvy, to Schembechler Hall. Michigan's new strength and con- ditioning coach, Kevin Tolbert, felt like he was coming home, when jumping from the 49ers back to Ann Arbor. Torbert worked as Harbaugh's assistant strength and conditioning coach at San Francisco, and served in a similar capacity for Lloyd Carr on Michigan squads from 2001-07, focusing on speed training. Former U-M running back Chris Perry vouches for the once and fu- ture Michigan body chiseler. "He was there my junior and se- nior years, and I don't think it's any coincidence I got faster and quicker when he showed up," Perry said. "Kev knew what he was doing. He was at Miami before he came to Michigan, and when he got to Mich- igan he implemented some things that really helped us. "I'm happy it came full circle. I think now that he has full control of the strength and conditioning, he'll implement even more of what he was trying to do when he first came with us." Plenty of implementation lies ahead. Perry, and others who have seen Harbaugh and his staffs in ac- tion, insist it will pay off in a big way.
