WHERE ARE THEY NOW? Michigan took one more run at NCAA glory in Morrison's senior sea- son, but fell 3-2 in a Frozen Four contest. U-M's most-celebrated player ever exited the Ann Arbor stage quietly, but was not done with hockey, spending parts of three seasons with the New Jersey Devils before a trade sent him back to British Columbia to play for the hometown Vancouver Canucks. Michigan Accomplishments: Ranks first all time at U-M in career assists (182) and career points (284), and 10th in career goals (102) … Three-time first-team All-American (1995-97) … The 1994 CCHA Rookie of the Year, and two-time CCHA Player of the Year (1996 and 1997) … Became program's first Hobey Baker Award winner as the best player in college hockey (1997) … Won four CCHA regular-season titles, three conference tournament championships, went to the Frozen Four in sophomore, junior and senior seasons, and helped lead Michigan to the 1996 national title as an alternate captain. Michigan Memory: "The 1996 NCAA championship is a very distinct memory for me and teammates. We played in Cincinnati, which is fairly close to Ann Arbor, a short bus trip, so it was almost like playing a home game. We had a ton of fan support. "If you look at the shots on net, there weren't a whole lot. It was a defensive game. "We're playing well. [Goalie] Marty Turco made some big stops when we were down 2-1 that would have made it 3-1 and ended us. We battled back with a power-play goal and pushed it into overtime, and capitalized early in overtime. "For me, to win the national championship wasn't just a victory for the guys on the team but for everyone that was involved in getting this program back to prominence, from Red Berenson and all the assistants, and all the great players that came before me. I scored the goal, but there were about 50 players holding that stick with me." Professional Accomplishments: Second-round pick of the New Jersey Devils in 1993 … Scored 23 goals and had 58 assists in 131 games for the Devils in three seasons from 1998-2000 … Played parts of eight seasons with the Van- couver Canucks (2000-08) and four more seasons split between the Anaheim Ducks (2009), Dallas Stars (2009), Washington Capitals (2010), Calgary Flames (2011-12), and Chicago Blackhawks (2012), finishing his NHL career with 200 goals and 401 assists, totaling 601 points … Co-owns Breakaway Matting Inc., in Calgary, co-hosts the annual Tofino Saltwater Classic fishing derby, and is involved in commercial real estate in Vancouver. Education: Bachelor's degree from Michigan in economics, 1997. Family: Wife, Erin, of 13 years (almost 14), and four kids, a son, age 12, and three daughters, ages 11, 9 and 6.
