2015 RECRUITING ISSUE 2004 — Mike Hart Running back • Syracuse (N.Y.) Onondaga Central High School Three-star recruit and the No. 6 all-purpose back nationally Hart beat out five-star Chad Henne to earn his standing as Michigan's top freshman performer in 2004, and it couldn't have come from a less likely re- cruit. The 5-10, 175-pounder racked up 1,455 yards and nine touchdowns on 282 carries (5.2 yards per attempt), and lost just one fumble all season. 2005 — Mario Manningham Wide receiver • Warren (Ohio) Harding High School Four-star prospect, and the No. 45 overall player and No. 5 wide receiver nation- ally Manningham was a heralded recruit, but few expected him to have the impact he did on a receiving corps that returned Jason Avant and Steve Breaston. He caught 27 passes for 433 yards and six touchdowns — all second to only Avant — and had the highest yards-per- catch mark at 16.0. 2006 — Brandon Minor Running back • Richmond (Va.) Varina High School Four-star recruit and the No. 1 fullback nationally Minor wasn't ranked as a feature back, but showed the potential to be just that in his fresh- man year. He was Michigan's second-leading rusher behind third-year starter Mike Hart. He notched 238 yards on 42 carries (5.7 yards per at- tempt) and punched in a pair of touchdowns. 2007 — Donovan Warren Cornerback • Long Beach (Calif.) Polytechnic High School Five-star prospect, and the No. 25 overall player and No. 3 cornerback nationally Warren started his Michigan career with a bang, working his way into the start- ing lineup by the third game of his freshman season. He played in all 13 contests that season, notching 52 tackles, 1.5 stops for loss and a sack. He also broke up five passes and recovered two fumbles. 2008 — Martavious Odoms Wide receiver • Pahokee (Fla.) High School Three-star recruit and the No. 71 wide receiver nationally Odoms showed both that Rich Rodriguez's offense would rely on the slot re- ceiver and that there weren't any on the roster when he arrived. The diminutive 5-8, 164-pounder caught 49 passes for 443 yards in his first year on campus to lead the team in both categories. Despite those marks, he did not catch any of the team's 11 passing touchdowns in 2008.
