MARCH 2015 ■ 13 Signing Day is always an exciting time of year for our pro- gram, our new signees and their families. This year's class is very special to me because we have had two solid years to keep our eye on these young men and watch them develop. I believe that it is crucial for us to be unique in our recruiting process. We are in a state with an immense amount of football talent. That gives us great potential, but it also means that every major football program knows this and comes into our state to try and get our kids. Something that has been a point of emphasis since I came to NC State is building a fence around our state. I have a staff full of relentless recruiters that will continue to fight for our in-state kids to stay home. When everything is said and done, we have had so much success in recruiting because players want to be a part of something special. They want to win a championship at NC State. We had a handful of players graduate early from high school and join the program in January. Those young men have already been integrated into our strength and conditioning program and will have the benefit of going through spring practice. We hold our first of 15 workouts on Sunday, March 1 and will practice for a week before spring break. Then we will come back and work up until the Kay Yow Spring Football Game on April 11. I look forward to seeing the entire Wolfpack faithful out in Carter-Finley. We have a solid nucleus of players returning this season, in- cluding a now tried-and-tested quarterback in Jacoby Brissett. Key areas where we will need to fill holes will be at offensive tackle, wide receiver and on special teams — as our punter, placekicker and long snapper have all completed their eligibility. Spring will also be a great time for the players who redshirted last season to get into the rotation, and we expect to have great competition at a number of spots. We are very excited about getting back on the field and build- ing on the momentum that we had going at the end of last season. I told the players that we made it hard on ourselves and that much is expected from us next season.
