Head coach Cael Sanderson claims he hasn't yet looked at the pre-seeds for this weekend's Big Ten tournament. Announced Monday, all of Penn State's starters – a lineup that includes Luke Frey at 157 pounds and Jimmy Lawson at 285 – earned top 10 seedings and five of them rank in the top five. Nobody, how- ever, was picked No. 1. Even if some had been, Sanderson wouldn't have known, nor would he have worried much about it, he said. "Coach Cody and Coach Casey look at [the seeds] more," he joked. "I've never really worried too much about them. We just have to wrestle. "We have individuals who we have to get ready for. There's not one weight where we're planning on going in [to the final seed meeting] and saying, 'Hey, let's try to change this.' Not a lot usually changes the day before in the seeding meetings. We have to wrestle. The teams that are in there and the individuals that are in there, you're going to have great wrestlers right off the bat." It is, of course, the Big Ten Champi- onships, which will send a total of 86 qualifiers to the NCAA Championships March 19-21. (125 - 5; 133 - 12; 141 - 8; 149 - 7; 157 - 8; 165 - 8; 174 - 10; 184 - 10; 197 - 9; 285 - 9.) There's going to be compe- tition at every weight, nearly every match – a sort of condensed version of the national tourney in St. Louis. Three of the country's top-five ranked teams – Iowa, Minnesota and Ohio State – that will be duking it out for a na- tional title in two weeks will also be in the St. John Arena this weekend in Columbus, Ohio, battling for the B1G title as a primer.
