ND SPORTS BY JORDAN WELLS A huge catalyst behind Notre Dame baseball's successful start to 2015 has been Cavan Biggio. The sopho- more second baseman helped propel the Irish to an 11-3 start by posting a .426 batting average and driving in 11 runs. "I'm just taking it one pitch at a time," Biggio said. "I'm approaching every at-bat like it could be my last one, not taking anything for granted and taking advantage of our scouting reports. I'm seeing the ball really well, just slowing the game down." Being the son of seven-time MLB All-Star and 2015 Hall of Fame in- ductee Craig Biggio means the Notre Dame standout was indoctrinated into the game at an early age. Both Cavan and his older brother, Irish senior out- fielder Conor Biggio, traveled with their father to some Houston Astros road games and accompanied him to many home contests. "I think that had a big impact on Conor and I," the younger Biggio said. "We were able to watch not only him, but how other players went about their business. We saw how they worked in the weight room or training room, and their pregame routines. We saw how they reacted to getting out, or after big wins and losses. "That's had a big impact on me on how to carry myself." Cavan Biggio Is Thriving For Irish Baseball Biggio, a sophomore second baseman, was hitting .426 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 14 games.
