125 | Jordan Conaway 23-6 Jr., Abbottsown, Pa. PSU OUTLOOK When Penn State opted to redshirt Nico Megaludis before the sea- son, the decision was partly predicated on the coaches' con5dence in Conaway being able to reach All-America honors. FRONT OF THE CLASS Jesse Delgado* (Illinois), Alan Waters (Missouri), Nahshon Garrett (Cornell), Thomas Gilman (Iowa) 133 | Jimmy Gulibon 22-7 So., Latrobe, Pa. PSU OUTLOOK There's no one at this weight class whom Gulibon doesn't have the ability to defeat when he's at his best. But there are seven top-10 wrestlers who have already proven they can beat him when he's not. FRONT OF THE CLASS Chris Dardanes (Minnesota), A.J. Schopp (Edinboro), Cory Clark (Iowa), Ryan Taylor (Wisconsin) 149 | Zack Beitz 18-9 So., Mi(intown, Pa. PSU OUTLOOK Beitz showed steady improvement as the season went on, most notably with a second-period pin over Oklahoma State's Josh Kindig in the 5nal road meet of the season. With a 56h-place 5nish at Big Tens, Beitz appears to be peaking at the right time. FRONT OF THE CLASS Jason Tsirtsis* (Northwestern), David Habat (Edinboro), Drake Houdashelt (Missouri), Brandon Sorensen (Iowa) 165 | Garett Hammond 23-12 R-Fr., Chambersburg, Pa. PSU OUTLOOK Hammond was in the mix for an at-large berth when BWI went to press and may or may not be competing for Penn State. He showed steady progress throughout the regular season, his 5rst in the varsity lineup. If he's to reach the All- America podium, though, it's going to take a few upsets, which he proved was possi- ble when he beat Iowa's Nick Moore in February. FRONT OF THE CLASS Alex Dieringer* (Oklahoma State), Michael Moreno (Iowa State), Nick Sulzer (Virginia), Bo Jordan (Ohio State) 174 | Matt Brown 24-3 Sr., West Valley City, Utah PSU OUTLOOK Against the top three at 174 (Robert Kokesh, Mike Evans and Logan Storley), Brown holds a combined career record of 10-9, having lost three career matches to Kokesh, including a 7-3 decision in this year's Big Ten tournament 5nal. He has as good a chance as anyone to win it all, but the outcome against his fellow top-5ve opponents can go either way at this weight. FRONT OF THE CLASS Robert Kokesh (Nebraska), Mike Evans (Iowa), Logan Stor- ley (Minnesota), Zach Epperly (Virginia Tech) WEIGHT-BY-WEIGHT BREAKDOWN |
