MICHIGAN FOOTBALL That theme won't go away, and Fisch is hoping to develop at least one quarterback this late summer and fall who is as good as gold. KERRIDGE EXCITED ABOUT POWER RUSHING ATTACK A running back posting 1,000 yards used to be as common at Michigan as blowout wins over all but the final opponent on the schedule. That's not true anymore, with the Wolverines featuring one running back topping the 1,000-yard mark in the past seven seasons. Not that any Michigan fan wants to give back the memory of quarter- back Denard Robinson running wild. Still, it's time to return to the days of tailbacks getting it done, in Jim Har- baugh's pro-style offense. New running backs coach Tyrone Wheatley — who once chewed up more than his share of ground for the Wolverines — is even talking about a 2,000-yard rusher. At this point, many would simply welcome a return to a strong, consistent rushing attack by the backs, and fifth-year senior full- back Joe Kerridge insisted it's com- ing. He noted he gets pumped up watching old video of a Harbaugh- coached Stanford lining up with ex- tra tight ends, fullback, etc., and get- ting ready to pound the football. Fifth-year senior fullback Joe Kerridge carried the ball three times for 56 yards last season, but he could see more action this fall. PHOTO BY PER KJELDSEN
