"I tested better than the way I tested leading up. I just did my best, and hope- fully that was enough," he said. "I've been out of the game for a while, so I just hope they can see there's potential there. I might be a little rusty, but the more I work at it, the more I have an op- portunity to improve and get back to where I was." Linebacker Mike Hull, meanwhile, faced his own less-serious knee issues. Forced out of Senior Bowl activities early due to ongoing rehabilitation from surgery immediately after the season, Hull returned to perform at the NFL Combine and hoped to make an even stronger impression during Pro Day. Although a tweaked hamstring pre- vented him from completing a second 40-yard dash, Hull said he was happy with what he was able to accomplish. His broad jump measured 9 feet, 2 inch- es, his vertical leap was 30½ inches, and his 40-yard time was between 4.63 and 4.66 seconds. Said Hull, "I think I did pretty decent." The other players who worked out were defensive ends Brad Bars and C.J. Olaniyan, running back Bill Belton, kicker Sam Ficken and defensive tackle Tyrone Smith. – NATE BAUER James Franklin and the coaches of several other Penn State teams will embark on the 12-stop Coaches Caravan tour this spring.
