"We always want to win and we always have to believe that we can win, but you also have to [be realistic with] expectations to score points, and I think our guys did a nice job," Sanderson said. "All of our guys wrestled pretty well. I think all of our guys wrestled above their seed, except [Morgan] McIntosh. But he's a No. 2 seed and takes third. A guy who can get beat and come back and place third, that's what it's all about. He showed a lot of character and toughness. Our guys wres- tled well, I think, even our guys who didn't place." Of seven quali5ers, 5ve placed in the top eight to claim All-America honors. Falling short was 149-pound Zack Beitz, who 5n- ished with a 1-2 mark, while redshirt fresh- man Matt McCutcheon went 2-2 at 184. Seeded 14th, McCutcheon produced PSU's biggest upset win when he defeated third- seeded Blake Stau6er of Arizona State, 3- 1, in overtime in the second round. In addition to Brown, who earned his third All-America citation, Jordan Conaway 5nished eighth at 125. Jimmy Gulibon was 57h at 133, Jimmy Lawson sixth at 285, and McIntosh third at 197. It was McIntosh's second All-America 5nish, while Conaway, Gulibon and Lawson earned the designation for the 5rst time. It was a big moment for Lawson, who is one of two departing seniors, the other being Brown. "That's de5nitely a big weight li7ed o6 my chest," Lawson said. "All-America? I like that." ■ WEIGHT-BY-WEIGHT RESULTS 125 | Jordan Conaway 27-9 Jr., Abbottsown, Pa., 11th seed 8TH-PLACE ALL-AMERICAN 1st Rd Joaquin Martinez, The Citadel - W, 12-7 dec. 2nd Rd No. 6 Thomas Gilman, Iowa - L, 3-1 (SV) Cons 2nd Rd Scott Parker, Lehigh - W, 4-3 dec.
