week, and that is the best part. I was able to watch
them grow.
"That's been an amazing experience for me. I try to
show them the ropes and the right things to do."
Several other teams and players are active in the
Charlottesville community. The women's basketball
team routinely posts pictures of their various service
projects to their social media accounts, and their an-
nual activities include food and toy drives for the less
fortunate. The players also liberally give their time to
read to area elementary schools and help with the
Special Olympics. In addition, the field hockey team
volunteers with Habitat for Humanity on build sites.
All-ACC basketball star Malcolm Brogdon is one of
the most recognizable faces on Grounds, and he finds
time to give back. The guard was one of 10 players
to be named to the 2015 Allstate NABC Good Works
Team for his impressive commitment to the community
and positively impacting lives around him. In addition
to mission trips overseas, he serves as a mentor to
youngsters in both Charlottesville and his hometown
in Georgia.
Just like the Virginia student-athletes volunteer their
time for all ages, they are setting the example for both
young and old to follow.
