A P R I L 1 5 , 2 0 1 5 B L U E W H I T E O N L I N E . C O M 17 Four-star offensive lineman Will Fries was back in State College this past week- end to take in spring practice. Since picking up an offer from the staff in December, the Cranford, N.J., native has visited on three occasions. However, this was the first time that his entire fam- ily made the trip. It was also the first time they stayed overnight. "I was actually up there Friday night and Saturday," Fries said. "When I got up there Friday, I got to sit down with Coach [Herb] Hand for a long time. We reviewed some film and some of the things they do. That was pretty cool to pick up some tips. "I then spent time with some of the players that night. I was with Noah Beh, Brendan Brosnan and Chance Sorrell. I actually went out to dinner with the guys, and my family went out to dinner with the coaches. I enjoyed that. I feel like I fit in well with the guys and they answered a lot of my questions then. That was re- ally helpful for me." During previous visits, Fries had watched practice, toured facilities and met with academic advisors, so he's al- ready experienced nearly everything that takes place during unofficial visits. Be- cause of that, he said that there wasn't anything unique about this most recent visit, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. "I always feel really welcome there, and this visit wasn't any different," Fries said. "I'm already pretty comfortable with them, so I wouldn't say that anything specifically stood out, mainly because I'd seen everything already. I did get to meet the school's president today. That was cool. He was at practice." Last week, Fries took unofficial visits to Northwestern, Clemson and South Car- olina. Since February, he's been to Syra- cuse, Rutgers, Virginia, North Carolina and Duke, so Fries has now seen the ma- jority of schools he has serious interest in. Because of that, there is a chance he will make a commitment this summer. He had previously said he wanted to take his official visits in the fall, but those plans might end up changing. One other factor in play is whether he receives additional offers during the spring evaluation pe- riod and summer. "I have to see what happens during the evaluation period," he said. "That's kind of the next step. I don't know of anyone specifically who may be close to offering me, but we'll see. I know Michigan wants to come in and see me. Wisconsin has also said that they want to come in. So I just kind of want to see where I stand after that, and then we'll see." Fries has already earned 18 verbal scholarship offers. A member of the Ri- vals250, he is ranked No. 242 overall. He's also the 10th-ranked offensive guard nationally, but at 6-foot-6, 265 pounds, he'll likely play tackle if he choses Penn State. Fries is the 10th- ranked prospect in New Jersey for the Class of 2016.
